  ……これは先生から聞いた話だけど、高校卒業した後、会社に勤めてすぐ、右手を怪我したらしいんです。

  マンガ家になろうと思ってたから、ペンを持つ右手はとくに大事。医者に行って治療を受けてる間に、

  「平山さん、その時僕がなにを考えてたかっていうとね、『急いで家に帰って、左手で絵を描く練習しなきゃ』って思ってた」って（笑）。

  そういうエピソードを聞いていると、僕の言っている「思想」ってわかるでしょ？「明日へ」って。人類の未来に対してもすごく希望を持っている人だったんじゃないかな。

  人間を信頼して、なんとかなるよ、って思いつづけていた人だと思う。

  その思想がいちばん大きいのが、「ドラえもん」だと思うんですよ。僕はね」
